A new boutique hotel will be opening in the Catskills of New York in Wyndham—a 2-hour drive from New York City—this June. What was once a bunk house for hunters, fly fishermen, and other outdoor enthusiasts dating back to the 1920s, is now the Eastwind Hotel & Bar.
This summer the property will reopen with 19 guestrooms, including three Lushna A-frame cabins secluded in the woods. The property will also feature a pool, sauna, barrel hot tubs, fire pits, and the Salon’s cocktail bar. Eastwind combines natural beauty with communal-minded spaces, while offering views of the Windham Mountain.
“We know spending time in nature is a humbling experience, so we wanted to create an upscale yet accessible way for today’s travelers to unplug, unwind and connect with friends and family.” —said Bjorn Boyer, owner of Eastward Hotel & Bar in press materials
Eastwind Hotel & Bar’s 19 guestrooms offer four room types including The Bunk House, which is home to the main lobby and check-in area and 11 guestrooms including two “writer’s studio” suites, the Salon, and an outdoor deck with a fire pit. The Hill House building features five ground-level rooms offering double queen beds or king beds with sofas. And, the Lushna Cabins, located further up the hill, offer guests a glamping experience in wooden A-frame huts with a window spanning one wall that gives guests stunning views over the Windham Mountain. Each Lushna Cabin is insulated to weather the seasons and offer guests queen beds, wood chests for storage, and whildlife journals. Guests also have access to their own private bathroom called the Rain Room, and a camping kit with grilling equipment to use at the fire pits.
The property will offer movie screenings in the summer, game nights in the winter, as well as intimate concerts and art classes. Guests can also peruse the onsite farmer’s markets, or take part in excursions guided by visiting chefs. In addition outdoor necessities are complimentary for guests to borrow such as rain boots for fall foraging, snowshoes for winter expeditions, and backpacks for summer hikes. Guests can also borrow one of the property’s bikes to venture into town where the village’s Main Street is filled with restaurants, breweries, art galleries, boutiques, and a local theatre. Opening starting rates start at $150 per night.
