The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina in Fort Myers, Fla., is sinking $7 million into a renovation project. The project will include upgrades to 195 of the hotel guest rooms, including the Captiva Villas, White Sands Villas, and Sanibel View Studios.

Renovations will commence in August and are slated for completion in early 2023.

“The goal is to provide accommodations that are worthy of our reputation—rooms that are fresh, new and clean to match the expectation of our guests,” Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina’s senior vice president of operations, Bill Waichulis, said in a press release.

The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina started with a single cottage in 1950. The 12-acre resort has a reputation for barefoot elegance that has earned it six Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards.

The resort’s Captiva Villas have 656 square feet of indoor living space, oversized lanais, and are close to the beach, fitness center, and Jack’s Restaurant.

The White Sand Villas have a variety of floor plans and are are located in the resort’s main building above the pool. Each has an open-air screened lanai with views of the Gulf of Mexico.

The Sanibel View villas also have screened-in lanais with water views. Guests have the option of one or two beds.

On-property amenities include meeting facilities, a spa, a full-service marina, a fitness center, and three restaurants. Activities include kayak, stand-up paddle board and Waverunner rentals, Chickee Hut beach rentals, ranger-led nature tours, and fishing and boating excursions.
