Spread out over close to two-and-a-half acres of natural landscape overlooking the Pacific Ocean, ZihFit is an intimate wellness retreat located in the tranquil fishing village of Zihuatanejo, just a 20-minute drive from the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport, Mexico.
Ben Bourgeois, Co-Owner and Proprietor of ZihFit, and Eduardo Penteado, Co-Owner and Fitness Program Director, share a unified vision of providing deeply personalized and designed-to-be-life-changing wellness experiences. Bourgeois highlights the retreat’s unique offerings: “At ZihFit, we focus on creating a sanctuary where each guest can embark on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery and renewal.”
Penteado adds, “The retreat’s intimate size and connection to nature allow us to tailor wellness programs to individual needs, offering guests the perfect balance of seclusion, luxury, and cultural immersion.”
The ZihFit Experience
Comprised of two villas featuring private accommodations with patios, the property accommodates just 16 guests. Offering a variety of immersive wellness experiences, ranging from 4-night to 6-night stays, and catering to guests’ specific goals and intentions, ZihFit programs include daily yoga and meditation sessions, body sculpting fitness classes, guided beach walks and personal nutrition consultations. And, due to the intimate size of the retreat, The ZihFit team takes pride in being able to create experiences customized for individual guests.
Recently introduced wellness programs include collaborative retreats with like-minded wellness professionals as well as its signature ZihFit retreat.
The 4-to-6-night program combines yoga, meditation and traditional Mexican ceremonies to foster spiritual growth and mindfulness. It incorporates locally sourced, plant-based nutrition and practices such as cacao ceremonies, healing sound baths and Temazcal rituals.
ZihFit’s wellness programs are fully customizable to suit each guest’s individual needs, goals and intentions, which most often tend to be weight loss, stress relief, a mental reset or achieving a spiritual awakening. Guests are also given the opportunity to create their own self-guided programs, providing flexibility and autonomy in their personal wellness journey.
Catering primarily to individuals seeking wellness-focused experiences (including solo travelers, couples and small groups) ZihFit is a good option for solo travelers because asPenteado points out, “beyond the benefit from personalized attention and wellness programs that are designed to meet individual goals, the intimate setting fosters connections with like-minded individuals without overwhelming social pressures, making it ideal for those seeking solitude or personal transformation.”
Pricing begins at USD 5,900 per person for a four-night retreat, which includes accommodation, meals, all wellness programs and ceremonies, plus airport transportation.
Experience the Local Culture
Authentic cultural experiences that embrace and incorporate the essence of Mexico can be arranged and are included in the rate. For instance, guests can take part in guided day trips to local markets to discover artisanal crafts or participate in traditional Mexican wellness rituals, such as the Temazcal, a pre-Hispanic sweat lodge ceremony that cleanses the body and spirit.
In tandem with the increasing levels of global health concerns, the retreat has implemented enhanced sanitization protocols, including daily deep cleaning of all common areas and accommodations, contactless check-in procedures, and regular health screenings for staff. Penteado points out that “all wellness and fitness equipment is thoroughly sanitized between sessions, and social distancing is encouraged in group activities.” To further ensure guests’ safety without compromising the quality of their experience, private dining options and outdoor wellness sessions are also offered if requested.
ZihFit operates year-round with scheduled ZIhFit retreats every month except August and September. The best time to visit is said to be during the dry season—October to July—when the weather is ideal for outdoor activities.
On a final note, Penteado says ZihFit is memorable for its unique blend of luxury, personalized wellness programs, and authentic Mexican culture. “Our goal at ZihFit is to offer more than just a retreat. We provide a sanctuary where guests can rediscover themselves and emerge with a renewed sense of balance and vitality. The personalized attention and unique experiences at ZihFit allow each guest to embark on a personalized wellness journey.”
