United Airlines is set to relaunch daily nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) beginning July 21, with a second daily flight resuming the following day. Tickets went on sale July 8.
The decision follows a “detailed assessment of operational considerations in the region and close consultation with the unions representing our flight attendants and pilots,” according to the airline.
United had previously resumed its Newark–Tel Aviv route earlier this year but temporarily suspended service in the spring due to security concerns. The airline is now returning with its Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft and will be the only U.S. carrier offering service to Israel this month.
U.S. carriers—including United, Delta and American Airlines—paused service amid security concerns and have since taken a cautious, stop-start approach to resuming operations as the conflict escalated and subsided at various intervals.
Delta had briefly reinstated its New York-JFK to Tel Aviv service earlier this summer but suspended it again in June following renewed U.S. and Israeli military activity in the region. Delta does not plan to resume operations until at least August 31. American Airlines, meanwhile, has halted its Tel Aviv flights through September 2025.
European carriers are also adjusting plans: Air France resumed its Paris–Tel Aviv service on July 7, while Lufthansa is preparing to restart flights on August 1.
Airline routes to the Middle East remain fluid as tensions in the region evolve, and carriers continue to monitor safety and security risks.
