The seaside town of Las Catalinas in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province was purpose-built for a low-tech lifestyle where motorized vehicles are not allowed, and everything revolves around health, sustainability and wellbeing. To that end, the town created a new wellness platform, Well-Living at Las Catalinas, and has announced two decidedly high-tech treatments at its Center of Joy wellness center, which will complement its offer of yoga, meditation, breathwork, acupuncture and other traditional therapies and rituals.

“Part of the magic of Las Catalinas’ healthy lifestyle is that it supports well-being in various ways, ranging from basic essentials to advanced and innovative methods,” said Gabriela Esquivel, Well-Living developer at Las Catalinas, in a press statement. “Here, we witness a fascinating synergy between technology and fundamental habits and rituals and it’s gratifying to see both work in perfect harmony mutually enhancing one another.”

The two new treatments offered at Center of Joy are Red Light Therapy (RLT) and AMI 750 & 850 (Energy Medicine and Sound Therapy). RLT uses low-wavelength red light to improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, redness and acne, not to mention treating other medical conditions, such as reducing pain and inflammation due to several conditions and side effects from chemotherapy. The sound AMI 750 & 850 consists of a device that applies sound through the feet to deliver health-giving benefits to the entire body, relieving stress and pain and enhancing vitality.
