Tour operator Collette is heading to Central America with a new tour, Costa Rica: A World of Nature. The itinerary focuses on sustainable travel and lesser-known destinations, aiming to combat overtourism while providing unique experiences for travelers.

The tour features a 2-night stay in Tortuguero National Park, a visit to the world’s first sea turtle research station, an exploration of La Tirimbina Rainforest Center and a tour of Espiritu Santo Coffee Plantation. Tortuguero National Park, known as the “Amazon of Costa Rica,” offers boat rides through canals and rivers, providing wildlife viewing opportunities.

“One of the most mystical, magical experiences you can have is witnessing an adult female turtle lay her eggs on the beach. It’s an endangered species that’s been around for millions of years, and you get to see that for the first time in your life,” said Juan Pablo, Collette’s regional district manager for Costa Rica, in a press statement.

Visitors to Tortuguero contribute to conservation efforts through Collette’s partnership with local groups. “Tortuguero is accessible only by water or air, and traveling through this region by boat is an interesting way to get acquainted with Costa Rica’s incredible biodiversity,” added Pablo in the press statement. “It’s also one of the best ways to observe wildlife. The boat rides are carefully planned to maximize sightings while minimizing our footprint.”

Your clients will visit La Tirimbina Rainforest Center for a chocolate tour that supports environmental research and conservation. At Espiritu Santo Coffee Plantation, they will learn about organic coffee cultivation. The itinerary also includes a 2-night stay in the San Carlos region and three nights near Arenal National Park, where they can hike the lava fields or zip line through the jungle. In addition, clients will visit a cacao plantation, participate in preservation efforts at a sea turtle research station at Tortuguero National Park and enjoy a crocodile safari and bird-watching cruise.
