The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has very quietly lifted its 14-day quarantine for travelers.
It is now advising travelers to check state, local, and territorial governments for requirements regarding quarantine. It says there are some destination that require those who have recently traveled to stay home for up to 14 days. Click here for more information.
Previous guidelines focused on a 14-day quarantine for those returning from international destinations or areas with a high concentration of cases. It is now requiring travelers to check with the destination they visited.
The CDC continues to implore travelers to follow social distancing guidelines indoors and outdoors staying at least six feet apart from each other, to wear a face mask that keeps both the nose and mouth covered, wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, avoiding contact with anyone who is sick, and avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
“You may have been exposed to COVID-19 on your travels,” says the CDC website. “You may feel well and not have any symptoms, but you can be contagious without symptoms and spread the virus to others. You and your travel companions (including children) pose a risk to your family, friends and community for 14 days after you were exposed to the virus.”
