Cathay Pacific has just launched nonstop passenger flights between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), offering your clients new direct routes to Asia. This 4-times-weekly service is the only direct flight connecting Texas and Hong Kong.

This addition is Cathay Pacific’s sixth U.S. passenger destination and eighth in North America, bringing the Cathay Group, which includes low-cost carrier HK Express, closer to reaching 100 passenger destinations by 2025.

Cathay Pacific’s Texas Roots

The airline’s Texas connection runs deep through its history. Co-founder Roy C. Farrell, a Texas native and former U.S. Air Force pilot, established Cathay Pacific in 1946. His aviation expertise and global vision initially focused on transporting essential goods between Australia and China, creating the foundation for what would become a major international carrier.

“My father was fearless, dreamed ‘Texas big’ and would let no obstacle stand in his way,” said Roy Farrell Jr., son of Cathay Pacific Founder Roy C. Farrell and a fellow Texas native. “His ultimate vision was to create an international airline that flies throughout Asia and to the U.S., which is clearly demonstrated in its namesake, Cathay Pacific.

“This final step of bringing Cathay Pacific home to Texas would surely make my father proud.  Following the sale of the airline to what is now Swire Pacific Limited in 1948, my dad always remarked, ‘They’ve done a fine job raising my baby.’ His vision of creating a premier international airline has been fulfilled.”

This summer, Cathay Pacific will operate more than 110 return passenger flights weekly across North America, including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.

The Hong Kong-Dallas route utilizes the airline’s modern Airbus A350-1000 aircraft with the following schedule:

  • Flight CX876 departs Hong Kong at 16:05, arriving in Dallas at 17:55 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • Flight CX875 leaves Dallas at 22:55, reaching Hong Kong at 04:35 two days later, operating Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Beyond the new Dallas service, the airline will offer three daily return flights to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as daily return flights to Boston and Chicago. Canadian service is also increasing, with 17 weekly return flights to Vancouver and 18 weekly return flights to Toronto.
