Brightline is on the move in Florida.
Connecting South Florida to Central Florida in three hours—seated comfortably and maybe even napping—is a minor miracle for anyone who grew up making that drive and navigating local traffic and the Florida Turnpike, only to reach the “Happiest Place on Earth” with frayed nerves and a pounding headache.
Brightline achieved that miracle last fall, connecting Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach to Orlando in a seamless, painless voyage across the lush Florida interior. Now Brightline is inviting Martin County to the party, selecting the city of Stuart as the site for its next intercity passenger rail station, with service expected to launch in the second half of 2026. Part of the “Treasure Coast,” Martin County borders Palm Beach County to the north and includes the towns of Jensen Beach and Hobe Sound.
“We’ve seen significant demand and support for a Brightline Station in the Treasure Coast which was evident during this process. It was a difficult decision and we’re grateful for everyone’s support and efforts to make this happen,” said Brian Kronberg, Brightline’s Senior Vice President of Development and Construction during a March 4 announcement in Stuart. “We couldn’t be more excited to make the city of Stuart our hub for Brightline along Florida’s Treasure Coast.”
The proposed Brightline Stuart station will be located on 2.35 acres in the heart of historic downtown Stuart about 40 miles north of Brightline West Palm Beach.
Brightline recently surpassed 5 million rides after first launching operations in South Florida in 2018 connecting Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. In 2022, Brightline opened stations in Boca Raton and Aventura. In September 2023, Brightline rolled out the yellow carpet to welcome long-haul travelers between South Florida and Orlando, celebrating true intercity rail. Today Brightline covers 235 miles between Miami and Orlando in under 3.5 hours.
Brightline to Head West. Way West.
Brightline West will build on Florida’s success by connecting Las Vegas and Southern California with the first true high-speed passenger rail system in the nation. This 218-mile, all-electric high-speed rail service will include a flagship station in Las Vegas, with additional stations in Apple Valley, Hesperia, and Rancho Cucamonga.
At speeds up to 200 miles per hour, trains will take passengers from Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga in just 2 hours and 10 minutes, twice as fast as the normal drive time. The Rancho Cucamonga Station will connect to Southern California’s regional Metrolink service, allowing for seamless connectivity into downtown Los Angeles and beyond.
