June marks Pride Month, and for those clients looking for LGBTQ-friendly resorts when booking their next getaway or how to take in this month’s festivities, we have a few recommendations. Plus, a few experiences available beyond this month.
In Florida, there are many Pride celebrations taking place—from Miami Beach to Orlando and Key West.
Miami Beach is hosting events during the month of June such as a Pride Bar Crawl taking place on June 16 at top gay bars on South Beach including Bar Gathering, Axel Beach, Nathan’s Bar, PALACE, and Twist, and it will once again be hosting the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade and Festival on Sept. 10-19, 2021. The event will feature the Miss Miami Beach Pride Drag Queen Competition, Queer Art Pop-up Showcase, Pride Lights the Night, and more. Travelers heading to Miami in September for the Pride parade should check out Hotel Gaythering, an adults-only, boutique hotel that caters exclusively to gay guests who want to experience Miami Beach. The property also offers Monday Karaoke and Happy Hours. For more information, visit gaythering.com.
Orlando, which is the first-ever recognized “City of the Year” by gaycities.com, will celebrate Pride Month with an array of events.
“We know LGBTQ+ visitors have a strong desire to travel to a destination with special events, nightlife and activities that promote inclusivity,” said Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando, in a press statement. “Visit Orlando has been a proud and active supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and LGBTQ+ travelers over the years and this year is especially significant as we commemorate an important milestone and celebrate the community’s resiliency.”
In addition, the city will be hosting a Five-Year Pulse Remembrance Week from June 5-13 for the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting that took place on June 12, 2016. The Five Years After the Pulse Tragedy Exhibit will take place June 5-13 at the Orange County Regional History Center in Downtown Orlando, which will examine how communities, both locally and across the globe, were touched by the tragedy of the Pulse nightclub shooting.
Guests visiting the city during any time of the year, can check out the Southern Nights Orlando nightclub, watch a performance by the Orlando Gay Chorus at The Plaza Live, or enjoy the Men of Orlando’s dancers’ nightly performances at SAVOY Orlando gay bar. And if your clients missed out on Pride celebrations this month, take note that Key West Pride 2022 will take place from June 1-5. For more information, visit gaykeywestfl.com/pride.
Over in Los Angeles, West Hollywood is known for being the center of the LGBTQ+ community in the city, and West Hollywood Hotels Collection is featuring four boutique hotels—Chamberlain West Hollywood, Montrose West Hollywood, Le Parc Suites, and The Grafton on Sunset—with travel offers. The Passport to Pride offer gives travelers the third night free, plus 20 percent off in-room massage services from Soothe. In addition, when guests stay at any of the four hotels, they’ll have access to all four hotels’ pools and amenities. Guests also have access to the hotels’ complimentary bikes, a yoga flow class at Le Parc, or wine hour at Montrose.
Also at Montrose, guests can take part in weekly gay pool parties and weekly Facebook Live concert series featuring gay American Idol finalist David Hernandez. For more information, visit westhollywoodhotels.com/pride.
