Grupo Xcaret is preparing to gradually resume operations starting on Jun. 15 with the reopening of Xcaret Park and Hotel Xcaret Mexico, while other parks and tours are set to reopen on Jul. 1.

As part of its efforts of adapting to a safer and cleaner reality, Grupo Xcaret has created the 360 Xafety guide, a protocol list of more than 1,300 specific actions to be implemented moving forward. From increasing hygiene and disinfection processes to limiting capacity, requiring social distancing, monitoring people’s health, and more, the guide outlines the new standard of sanitation and safety protocols put forth by national and international health organizations to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“People are at the center of Grupo Xcaret’s business model, and safeguarding their safety is one of the main pillars that support our enhanced safety reopening protocols. We are aware of the challenges that the tourism industry faces in regaining travelers trust and believe that the first step is being completely transparent about the measures we are taking to protect them,” said Miguel Quintana, CEO of Grupo Xcaret in a press release statement. “To this end, our open access protocols will be available on our website, not only for potential visitors but for other tourism providers that can use them as guidelines in creating or adapting their own,” he added.

Some of the measures outlined include limiting the occupancy of Xcaret Park and Hotel Xcaret Mexico during the first phase of reopening to 50 percent to allow space for social distancing. Every person entering the resort facilities and transportation units will have their temperature taken with touchless digital devices. The use of masks will be strongly suggested to all park visitors and hotel guests, and credit card and online payments will be encouraged to reduce physical contact with ticket booth staff. High contact surfaces will be disinfected up to every 30 minutes with EPA approved broad spectrum and long-lasting residual effect products. Hotel and tour guest luggage, handbags and strollers will be disinfected upon arrival, and hotel guest rooms will be disinfected twice a day.

Grupo Xcaret is a member of the Board of Affiliates of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and has worked together with them to strengthen their recovery guidelines and recommendations. Grupo Xcaret is also part of the task force assembled by the Global Association for the Attractions Industry (IAAPA) to develop their reopening guidance document.

Grupo Xcaret will gradually restart operations of the other parks and tours on Wednesday Jul. 1 as it continues to closely monitor the evolution of COVID-19 and follows government recommendations.

The complete protocols being implemented are available here.
