Costa Rica Tourism and Avanti Destinations have launched a joint campaign to help advisors create customized vacations in Costa Rica, which began welcoming U.S. tourists in November 2020.

The joint promotion consists of a new 62-page downloadable e-brochure, Experience Costa Rica, available on Avanti’s travel advisor portal; a microsite; themed webinars, with two upcoming ones on April 8 and April 21, 2021; and a $25 gift card for travel advisors for each passenger booked to Costa Rica in 2021 and 2022 (details of the incentive available on the advisor portal). As with all Avanti vacations, there are no fees for changes made 15 or more days prior to departure.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Avanti in this campaign to educate travel advisors and their FIT clients on all the irresistible experiences our country offers,” said Carolina Trejos, marketing director of Costa Rica Tourism/ICT, in a press statement.

“The jointly produced e-brochure, microsite, and webinars are organized around four themes: recharge, thrill, balance, and connect. Recharge has to do with relaxation and wellness experiences. Thrill is what characterizes the many soft adventure activities we offer, such as ziplining, whitewater rafting, canyoneering and waterfall jumping, among many others. Balance explains our country’s respect for the environment, striking a balance between nature and civilization. Connect is about sharing the travel experience with family, friends and romantic partners. We look forward to welcoming your clients very soon,” added Trejos.

“Costa Rica has always been Avanti’s best-selling destination in Central America, and it is the perfect place for independent travelers to go right now,” said Paul Barry, Avanti’s CEO, in press materials. “Whether your clients are solo travelers, couples or small groups of family and friends, this destination has something to appeal to everyone. They can relax on an uncrowded beach, soak in a natural hot spring warmed by a volcano, thrill to soft adventure challenges, or simply admire the beautiful landscapes and abundant wildlife in one of the most bio-diverse nations in the world. An amazing 26 percent of the area of this small country committed to ecologically sustainable tourism has been set aside in national parks, conservation areas, and biological reserves, with plenty of space for safe social distancing.”

The new e-brochure highlights 10 customizable itineraries combining two or more destinations in Costa Rica. Among the new itineraries are: Costa Rica Family Adventure, Costa Rica Romantic Escape, Costa Rica Adventure.

Featured destinations include: Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula, both renowned for their beaches and excellent surfing conditions; Arenal, famous for its active volcano and natural hot springs; Tortuguero National Park, a major nesting site for green turtles; Puerto Viejo, a laid-back mecca for surfing and snorkeling; Corcovado National Park, considered one of the most impressive of Costa Rica’s 28 national parks and among the world’s most bio-diverse regions; Manuel Antonio National Park, known for its white sand beaches, rainforest hiking trails, and wildlife-spotting opportunities; Dominical, where rainforests meet world-class surfing beaches; and the Monteverde Cloud Forest, home to 2,000 plant species. For each of the 10 destinations, two or three select accommodations are profiled – many of them eco-lodges and eco-resorts where guests stay in private bungalows and villas.

Your clients can pick from 33 private and shared experiences and activities in Costa Rica described in the e-brochure, which can be added to customize any vacation including a tour of a Bribri indigenous tribal reserve explaining how cacao has been grown and chocolate produced by native peoples since pre-Columbian times; a private mountain bike tour in Arenal; several night tours to observe nocturnal wildlife (one just to see bats, another designed specifically for children) in Monteverde and Arenal; a family surfing lesson for beginners; a butterfly farm tour; a frog pond tour; horseback riding tours; and slow river rafting, as well as several whitewater rafting tours in different parts of the country, some combined with ziplining; a hiking tour and entrance to Tabacon natural hot springs with dinner; a Gravity Falls “waterfall jumping” tour, combining rappelling down a waterfall with diving off a cliff into natural pools; kayaking on Lake Arenal; and many different treetops/hanging bridges tours, some combined with ziplining; plus private horseback riding to waterfalls; ATV tours at Arenal and Manuel Antonio; and wildlife-spotting tours of many national parks, some by boat.
