Caribbean Dispatch: Three Spas You Can (Almost!) Live In

What’s better than a few hours in a Caribbean spa? How about a few days at a Caribbean spa? There are resorts that are elevating wellness to the next level with rooms that either include spa treatments in the rate or which are located within the spa, so tranquility is just a few steps away. If your clients are looking for a wellness-themed vacay with a liberal dose of self-care and pampering, point them in the direction of these indulgent island oases, where you don’t just visit the spa, you practically live in it!

Couples Tower Isle, Jamaica An all-inclusive resort that offers unlimited spa treatments for your client’s entire vacation sounds too good to be true—but it isn’t. Just outside Ocho Rios, Jamaica’s first all-inclusive resort was also the first in the Caribbean to introduce spa category rooms. Oasis Spa Villas and (larger) Signature Oasis Spa Villas have secluded terraces and plunge pools and private pathways that wind directly to the Oasis Spa. Relaxation begins on arrival, when guests bypass the front desk and check in en suite, and then continues with a customized roster of treatments, formulated in advance by the spa concierge. All of the treatments are included in the room rate (I managed to fit in 11 during my stay, back in 2018!) and performed either in the spa or in the privacy of one’s villa.

Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort & Spa, Honduras Recommend clients head to the largest of Honduras’ Bay Islands and set up base camp at this year-old resort, where four suites upstairs from the spa offer the ultimate in relaxation. Each airy, third-floor sanctuary has a spacious bathroom with a soaking tub and an outdoor shower, and a broad balcony where your clients can relax in a swinging chair and watch the sun dip over West Bay. Spa treatments aren’t included at this EP resort. But guests in spa suites enjoy unlimited use of the spa—and it’s one of the best I’ve seen in my travels, complete with a hydrotherapy circuit and its own oceanview glass-bottom pool shaded by swaying palms.

Couples Sans Souci, Jamaica If your clients have at least five days (that’s the minimum stay) to spare, recommend they spend some time in the Hibiscus Oasis Spa Villa at this classic Ochi resort. Secluded and spacious, it has its own spa room, marble his-and-hers showers, and an oceanview infinity pool and terrace, so just being here is a relaxing experience. Combine their stay with unlimited complimentary spa treatments, and by the time they leave they’ll be so relaxed they’ll float back to MBJ! (And speaking of the airport, guests in spa suites also enjoy private airport transfers and access to the Club MoBay VIP Departure Lounge at Sangster International Airport.)
