Palace Resorts has completed a $40-million-dollar renovation of Sun Palace, the brand’s luxury adults-only resort in Cancun. Located 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport, the 247-room and suite property has officially reopened after undergoing extensive improvements and a complete transformation to its interiors and exteriors and now features a redesigned lobby, redesigned guest suites, new dining options and new modern décor to its common spaces, bars, and lounges.

Sun Palace also features a 7,671-square-foot, full-service spa with eight treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy facility, a 2,501 square-foot fitness and wellness center with new top-of-the-line equipment.

The design team sought to bring the outside world and feeling of nature into the interiors of the resort. “During the renovation of Sun Palace, lighting played a fundamental role in ensuring we created a warm, relaxed ambiance,” said Claudia Ferreiro, who led the design team.  “The new look includes natural stone, marble, and wood sourced locally from the region, eluding to the richness and beauty of the environment. Our goal was to make guests feel relaxed and Zen.” In addition, furniture exclusively designed for the property features a variety of Mexican textiles incorporating the earth’s natural elements.

“We are extremely proud of the work that was done to complete the unveiling of Sun Palace, one of our most popular adult-only resorts and one that has been recognized in the industry among the top hotels for romance as well as one of the top resorts in Cancun as designated by the TripAdvisor community,” said Gibran Chapur, executive vice president for Palace Resorts, in a statement. “After 13 years of continued success, we felt it was time to modernize and revamp this property to ensure it meets the demands and likes of our guests and continues to be in a caliber all its own.”

One of the most distinctive qualities of Sun Palace is the unparalleled culinary offerings. All of the existing restaurants have been revamped with new décor, upgraded menus, and new and innovative dining concepts.
