As Petra Roach’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) approaches its conclusion in June 2025, the organization is gearing up for a significant leadership transition. Roach, who has led the GTA since 2021, has decided not to extend her contract for a fifth year, prompting the search for a new CEO to guide Grenada’s tourism sector into its next phase of development.
“It has been a fantastic experience being a part of the GTA family,” said Roach in a press statement. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together in positioning Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique as vibrant, sought-after destinations. The passion and dedication of the team have been inspiring, and I look forward to seeing Grenada’s tourism industry continue to thrive.”
A Driving Force Behind Grenada’s Tourism
During her 4-year stint, Roach has been a driving force behind Grenada’s tourism recovery and growth, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her strategic vision and dedicated advocacy have substantially enhanced Grenada’s standing as a top-tier destination in the global travel market. Under her guidance, the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique has seen notable increases in visitor arrivals and improved airlift connectivity, while also securing prestigious international accolades.
“Petra’s impact on Grenada’s tourism industry has been nothing short of transformative. Her dedication, innovative approach, and tireless efforts have positioned Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique as must-visit destinations on the global stage. We are deeply appreciative of her service and leadership, and we extend our sincere well wishes as she prepares for her next chapter,” said Randall Dolland, Chairman of the GTA, in a press statement.
As the GTA prepares for this transition, Roach has committed to playing an active role in the process, including assisting in the identification of her successor. This collaborative approach aims to ensure a smooth handover and maintain the momentum of Grenada’s tourism growth.
The upcoming leadership change presents both challenges and opportunities for Grenada’s tourism sector. The new CEO will be tasked with building upon the solid foundation established during Roach’s tenure, while also navigating the evolving landscape of global travel. Key focus areas are likely to include sustainable tourism practices, digital marketing strategies and continued expansion of airlift and accommodation options.
