Avianca has revealed plans to expand its network with three new direct routes connecting the United States and Latin America, set to begin operations on March 30. These routes include Tampa to Bogota, Fort Lauderdale to Medellin and Miami to San Jose, Costa Rica. The new services will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, accommodating 180 passengers per flight.
“After 2024, in which we consolidated the most extensive network in our history and transported the highest number of passengers in our 105 years, we are thrilled to continue strengthening connectivity to and from the United States. We are also excited to introduce Tampa as a new destination. We will keep working with authorities, airports, and partners to ensure the success of these routes,” said Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America, Central America, and the Caribbean in a press statement.
Avianca’s Newest Destination
The Tampa-Bogota route marks Tampa as a new destination for Avianca, operating four times weekly and offering 1,440 seats. This connection will provide travelers from Tampa with access to over 75 destinations across the Americas and Europe via Bogota, including 25 domestic destinations within Colombia, such as Medellin, Cartagena, Cali, Quibdo, San Andres and Leticia.
Avianca will operate daily flights between Fort Lauderdale and Medellin, providing 2,520 seats weekly. The same frequency and capacity will be available on the Miami-San Jose (Costa Rica) route.

We look forward to celebrating the launch of this service with Avianca.”
