Balfour, an 82-room art deco property located in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth enclave, has officially reopened as part of Morgans Originals, a collection of iconic hotels under the Ennismore umbrella.
Originally opened in 1940 as The Lord Balfour Hotel, the property has undergone a refresh by Miami-based Bigtime Design Studios in collaboration with Ennismore. The hotel now blends art deco design with modern elements, preserving original features like terrazzo floors and brass elevator doors while introducing new amenities.
What’s New?
Two historic buildings are connected by a courtyard and situated steps from Ocean Drive and the Miami Beach Boardwalk. Guestrooms feature herringbone or hardwood flooring, custom art deco artwork by Mike Willcox and modern touches such as Lavazza coffee machines and stocked bar carts with cocktail tools and local snacks.
Accommodations range from Classic and Superior rooms to family-friendly suites, including one with bunk beds. Bathrooms are outfitted with refillable vegan amenities and robes, part of the brand’s commitment to sustainable hospitality. Additional hotel amenities include a plunge pool, a rooftop deck and complimentary bicycles.
For dining options, Cleo is a new Eastern Mediterranean restaurant led by Executive Chef Camila Olarte. The venue offers a menu of shareable, family-style dishes. Guests can dine indoors, in the courtyard or on the wraparound terrace. Launching later this summer, SoFi Coffee will offer a relaxed neighborhood cafe experience, serving ethically sourced coffee from Imperial Moto alongside a curated menu of teas, wellness shots, juices and artisanal pastries by Butter Moon.
