Eye on the World: Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Fire-wielding acrobats rappelling off of a building, suspended aerial silk dancers performing midair over a pool, and a daring performer (also wielding fire) soaring over the same pool with the assistance of a water jet pack wowed guests at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun’s grand opening party on Jan. 12—and I had a front row seat to all the action. I also had a front row view of the crystal-blue Caribbean Sea from my Ocean Front Master King suite in the adults-only tower. At the end of each night you could find me in the jacuzzi on my suite’s balcony, soaking my cares away while listening to the crashing Caribbean waves below. I also ate plentifully and unabashedly during the trip at the classic American diner Chevy’s (a salmon burger with goat cheese and a milkshake), Habaneros Mexican restaurant (octopus ceviche) and the Pasteles dessert bar (any and everything chocolate covered). I was able to tear myself away from Pasteles, the pools and the beach to visit the Museo Maya de Cancun, which featured ancient Mayan pottery, masks and sculptures—a must-see in Cancun’s hotel zone. On my last day in Cancun, I took a trip to the nearby Hyatt Zilara Cancun where Hyatt Ziva Cancun guests enjoy exchange privileges. The small plates at Tapas & Pintxos are definitely worth the short taxi ride. Hungry for more? Flip through my photo diary to see the rest of my adventures.
