Miraval Arizona, the wellness destination in Tucson, AZ, resumed operations on Aug. 6 and is ready for guests, with new safety protocols and a range of socially distanced wellness experiences.

The 400-acre resort, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has introduced a series of new protocols in line with CDC and local guidelines to safeguard the health and wellbeing of guests and staff. Miraval Arizona additionally follows Hyatt’s Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment, created in partnership with the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), and has implemented stringent sanitization guidelines for its reopening.

Airport transfers for arrivals and departures will limit the number of guests per shuttle. Guests will be required to wear masks, and masks will be provided upon request. Disinfectant wipes will be accessible on all shuttle vans, and Miraval drivers will wear masks and gloves at all times. All shuttle vans will be cleaned and disinfected between each ride.

Guests will be asked to participate in pre-arrival planning including filling out Miraval’s Risk & Release form and saving a copy of their itinerary, to limit touchpoints at check-in. Signage will be placed throughout the resort to act as social distancing markers, and disinfectant wipe and hand sanitizer stations will be increased throughout the resort. High-touch areas, such as doorknobs, desk surfaces, bathrooms and chairs, will be cleaned at a higher frequency. Face coverings will be required when guests are moving around the hotel, both indoors and outdoors, and masks must be worn during spa treatments and all programs.

Cactus Flower Restaurant and Coyote Moon Bar & Lounge will have reduced seating capacity and offer ample outdoor dining space to allow for social distancing. Guests will be required to wear masks inside the dining outlets, except while consuming food or beverages.

Seals will be placed on guest room doors to indicate accommodations have been cleaned and sanitized with hospital grade disinfectant. The seal will only break upon the door opening, ensuring confidence that the guest rooms remain clean and safe. Guests must opt in to receive daily housekeeping and turndown service which must be prearranged prior to their arrival.

In addition to implementing comprehensive cleanliness protocols, Miraval Arizona has also adapted its wellness programming to ensure guest safety. Guests will be asked to sign up in advance for all activities prior to their arrival.

Outdoor adventures such as hiking, challenge course activities and mountain biking will be available. Challenge course activities will limit the number of participants to ensure physical distancing and may require masks and gloves. Miraval’s range of equine experiences will also be on offer, such as mindful horseback riding. Guests will travel to Purple Sage Ranch for the programs, and transportation to and from the resort will follow the same stringent protocols as those for airport transfers.

In addition to the resort’s healthful cuisine, culinary experiences will be available at the resort’s Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen. Guests can expand their understanding of the relationship between wellness and food through interactive classes such as Mindful Eating and Plant-Based Cooking. All classes in the Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen will be limited to a certain number of participants, and guests will be required to wear masks and gloves.

Miraval will resume its yoga and fitness classes, such as Crystal Meditation and Manifestation Meditation. Some classes will be relocated outdoors to comply with local and CDC guidelines. Classes will include distancing markers to help guests remain at a safe distance, and all equipment will be cleaned and disinfected before and after each class. Participants may be asked to wear masks and gloves during each class.

The Body Mindfulness Center, which houses the property’s fitness center, has temporarily suspended operations. A selection of the resort’s fitness programming will be available outdoors set amongst the backdrop of the Sonoran Desert.
