During its annual gala held at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City, Island Destinations awarded its 2020 President’s Award for Emerging Luxury to five luxury Dominican Republic hotels: Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Eden Roc Cap Cana, Paradisus Palma Real Resorts, Tortuga Bay Puntacana Resort & Club, and Amanera.
“The Dominican Republic is a luxury product that deserves the attention of luxury consumers,” said Maurice Bonham-Carter, president and CEO of ID Travel Group. He also asserted that the destination was mistreated by the mainstream media after several tourist fatalities.
To demonstrate its support of the Dominican Republic, the company had its annual company retreat there in June. “The service, cuisine and offerings are better than ever, and we, as the authority for luxury travel, are extremely confident that these award-winning properties stand ready to delight your clients,” says Bonham-Carter.
In addition, Island Destinations is offering every advisor who books 36 room nights to the Dominican Republic, from now until January 31, a $1,000 air credit and 3-night stay for two.
Other awards presented at the gala included Anantara Angkor Resort & Spa, Cambodia that received the Ultimate Experience Award; Kudadoo Maldives Private Island winner of the Ultimate Romance Award; Montage Los Cabos recipient of the Ultimate Intuitive Service Award; and Silversands Grenada that received the Ultimate Style & Design Award.
“We’re honored to celebrate more than 250 of our industry partners under one roof and are so very grateful for the longstanding relationships that we have established with the world’s best hotels and top luxury travel advisors,” said Laurie Palumbo, chief operating officer of ID Travel Group. “It is these trusted partnerships, cultivated by the ID team, that our travel advisors rely on every day to enhance their client’s experience. We’ve been in business for 36 years, and this trust is something that we will never take for granted.”
The newly curated Travelers Collection Brochure for 2020 that highlights 125 luxury properties across the world’s top destinations was unveiled during the gala. Featured on its front and back covers is Grand Velas Riviera Maya, recipient of the inaugural 2020 Island Destinations Passionate Palm award.
“At Grand Velas it is very personal, it starts at the top with the owner’s involvement and commitment to excellence which has developed our longstanding partnership. This award not only recognizes our partnership, but their passion to create and deliver unforgettable experiences for every client.” said Bonham-Carter.
