There’s a new kid on the block on the powdery shores of Cancun’s hot hotel strip: Melody Maker, an all-inclusive entertainment resort. A combination of renovations and new construction has transformed the former ME Melia into a luxe, 679-room enclave of entertainment geared to a 20- and 30-something clientele. A hip, modern design style and non-stop pulsing music nearly everywhere on site are hallmarks of this inaugural brand.

Since opening in December, Melody Maker has been finding its stride as a fun getaway. Named for the iconic British weekly music magazine, it is said to have the world’s largest video projection mapping technology—transforming the side of the building with customized light shows. The light shows are in full Vegas-style mode for six months from November to May, when the resort becomes a concert venue for top contemporary entertainers. Year-round entertainment includes DJ-curated music in the pool area and beach club overlooking the Caribbean sea.

Other Melody Maker Cancun facilities include a spa and 24-hour gym, and five restaurants serving a variety of international cuisine. Coffee lovers will appreciate the Nespresso coffee bar, touted as the first of its kind in hotels worldwide. Next up is an attached 13,000-sq.-ft. convention center due to open in August. It can accommodate up to 1,000 people for events and boasts a large outdoor terrace with a beautiful lagoon view.
