G Adventures’ Change Makers Challenge is back to encourage travel advisors to focus on changing people’s lives through travel. The Challenge is open now through January 2020 to travel advisors worldwide.
This year’s Change Makers Summit took place last month in the Sacred Valley of Peru and brought together more than 120 travel advisors and staff from around the globe for an immersive, week-long experience in adventure travel and responsible tourism. The event’s success has inspired G Adventures to continue the challenge for a second year with a new location for 2020.
“Our first Change Makers Summit was a resounding success,” says David Green, the G Adventures commercial v.p. in press materials. “The feedback from our agent partners has reinforced how life-changing a firsthand experience like this can be for even the most veteran of travel pros. Community tourism has massive potential to spread economic opportunity among local talent and underserved communities. We love helping people more clearly see these connections. I am thrilled to be able to help more agents experience our company culture, and understand why we do what we do.”
The 7-month challenge will culminate in a second Change Makers Summit, which will be hosted in a mystery location next April. More than 150 change makers from the U.S., U.K. and Ireland, Central Europe, South Africa, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as members of G Adventures’ team of specialists will come together for site-seeing, social impact experiences, and friendly team competitions.
“Tourism not only serves as a conduit of change for local families and travelers willing to step out of their comfort zone, but it can chart a path to a rewarding career built on passion and purpose for travel advisors,” says Peter Worthing G Adventures U.S. v.p. of sales in press materials. “We think of these professionals as so much more than business partners. They are agents of change who share our belief in travel as a force for social good. Together, we make a difference.”
The 2020 Summit will be a week-long trip where advisors will get the opportunity to witness the positive effects that community tourism delivers for local residents—especially women, youth, and indigenous people. Advisors will also explore the destination’s highlights to help familiarize themselves with the product. At the end of the tour, agents will have a full-day, immersive G Adventures experience that will end with a party.
Agents can earn their spot on G Adventures’ 2020 Change Makers Summit by:
- Accumulating entries. Agents will automatically receive one entry per “life changed” traveler booked.
- Pursuing various wildcard opportunities that will be announced throughout 2019.
- Submitting a “social good” entry telling a story about how work they’ve done for their local community, or to larger travel community, gives back. Deadline for stories is Dec. 31, 2019.
