Advisors arrive in San Salvador, the vibrant capital of El Salvador, and transfer independently to Barceló San Salvador, the host hotel for the program. The FAM begins with a guided city tour of San Salvador, offering essential context on the country’s political, cultural and social evolution. Advisors will explore the historic city center, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, Rosario Church and Archbishop Óscar Romero’s Mausoleum.
The FAM then heads to Joya de Cerén, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as the “Pompeii of the Americas.” Preserved by volcanic ash, the site offers rare insight into everyday pre-Columbian Mayan life. Advisors will visit Suchitoto, one of El Salvador’s most charming colonial towns, known for its cobblestone streets, artisan shops and historic significance as a former capital. The day includes a boat tour on Lake Suchitlán, a haven for migratory birds, followed by free time for lunch before returning to San Salvador.
One of El Salvador’s most popular tourism corridors, Ruta de las Flores showcases the country’s colorful villages, coffee culture, local cuisine and scenic mountain landscapes. The program continues with a guided walk through Cerro Verde National Park, where a dormant volcano is now blanketed in tropical forest. Later, advisors will visit Lake Coatepeque, a striking volcanic lake known for its vivid blue waters and mysterious color changes.
