If your Europe-bound clients are looking for a high-end luxury hotel brand, we have just the recommendation: Corinthia Hotels.

This established, family-owned collection of five-star properties in Europe offers guests opulent accommodations and service, top-tier fine dining restaurants, and indulgent spa facilities in cities throughout Europe such as London, Lisbon and Prague.

The brand was founded in the 1960s thanks to Alfred Pisani, a successful (and self-made) Maltese businessman who is the company’s founder and group chairman. In December of 1962, the Pisani family introduced the Corinthia Restaurant to San Anton, on the island of Malta; two years later, planning began for the 155-room Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa.

Fast forward to today where Simon Naudi, CEO of Corinthia Hotels, explains that the master plan for the brand is to establish Corinthia on a global level by expanding across Europe and into the North American market. When we spoke with Corinthia principals they did let us know that a Corinthia is expected to open in New York, but they were unable to provide an opening date.

“Around 10 percent of our rooms are taken up by North American visitors, the rest are mainly European,” explains Naudi. “We wish to see more and more U.S. and Canadian visitors stay with us and have been stepping up our efforts across the U.S. to explain to the market, and to the [travel] agencies, who we are and what we stand for.”

And what’s in store for Corinthia in 2014? Naudi says it’s all about “focusing on leisure revenue, restating our F&B offerings in some of our hotels, and growing the business by getting started on two new Corinthia Hotels.”

One of those is the Corinthia Golf and Spa Resort Taormina. Located in Sicily, this luxurious property will feature 130 bedrooms and suites as well as 158 fully serviced residential units—all overlooking an 18-hole golf course and club house—two restaurants, three bars, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a health club and spa. The property is still under development. (Information for the second property Naudi mentions was not available as of press time.)

Let’s take a look at the brand’s flagship property, Corinthia Hotel London, with 294 rooms, including 36 suites and seven, 2-story penthouses with names like The Royal PenthouseThe Writer’s Penthouse; and The Explorer’s Penthouse (the penthouses range from 1,000 to 5,000 sq. ft. and each are eloquently designed and furnished—grand staircases, a butler’s kitchen, a terrace or balcony with London on full display); two onsite restaurants and bar; and a lobby described as the “heartbeat of the hotel” with a blend of fine furnishings, artwork and a towering dome featuring a Full Moon chandelier made up of 1,001 crystal baubles. The lobby is also the spot where guests can sit back and enjoy traditional afternoon tea or evening cocktails.

The hotel’s main feature though is its ESPA Life at Corinthia, an opulent 4-story, 9,842-sq.-ft. spa with discreet private treatment suites, 15 oval treatment pods and sleep pods as well; an amphitheater sauna, hammam, and steam room; a slew of wellness programs, including complementary and alternative medicine and holistic programs; fitness, nutrition and luxury spa treatments for the mind and body; a 24-hour fully equipped gym; a Daniel Galvin hair salon; onsite staff ready to address health and lifestyle issues from stress to sleep problems; and a Spa Lounge serving nutritious cuisine and healthy beverages.

If your clients find themselves rambling through London during the Easter holiday, Corinthia Hotel London is now offering an Easter 2014 weekend package (starting rate is $486). The package includes accommodations in one of the hotel’s guestrooms or suites and an English breakfast for two in The Northall restaurant.

Another Corinthia spa worth mentioning is the Longevity Medical Spa at the 518-room Corinthia Hotel Lisbon. This spa, which is the same size as the ESPA Life in London, specializes in wellness programs from weight loss to its main specialty—anti-aging remedies. The staff offers guests an executive health and anti-aging check-up because at Longevity Medical Spa, the company says, it’s all about providing preventative anti-aging medicinal techniques designed for early detection, diagnosis and prevention. The spa also boasts an ACQUA thermal spa for hot and cold bathing treatments; a gym; a heated indoor pool; VIP treatment rooms; and a SPA Cafe.

To give you an idea of which client to book at a Corinthia property, rates for a superior double room at Corinthia Hotel London start at $650 per night, while rates at Corinthia Hotel Lisbon start at $110 per night.
