Sweet Experiences Await Clients at Wayam Mundo Imperial

Wayam Mundo Imperial in Merida has prepared a sweet experience for your clients that’s also good for the environment: BEE Matters is their newest offering that helps them get up close and personal with some fuzzy citizens of the Yucatan, the stingless Melipona bees. Their famous honey is both delicious and medicinal.

The Melipona bees have long been prized by the Mayans for their honey, but they are now endangered. Wayam Mundo Maya wants to be part of the answer and is inviting their guests to be part of the BEE Matters experience that takes them into the world of the Maya and their hives.

The immersive experience takes them through the entire cycle of the Melipona bees and their importance in the community and beyond, from the types of bees found throughout Mexico and the Yucatan, the many benefits of their honey, their lifestyle, and why they are so important to conserve. Your clients will also sample the honey and, with an in-kind donation, can help support the female-dominated Mayan collectives dedicated to protecting the bees.

“The sweet taste of the Yucatan is a culinary souvenir to remember with BEE Matters,” said Mauricio Ramirez, commercial & marketing director at Mundo Imperial Entertainment & Hospitality, in press material. “Recently incorporated as a tour offering for WAYAM guests, BEE Matters lets guests honor the property’s promise to leave a positive impact on its community. The experience is an homage to the magic of nature.”

Your clients will even have the opportunity to paint and decorate their own wooden beehive box, then “adopting” a beehive by donating the box to the beehive collective, or meliponario. To add to the experience, they will then enjoy a home-cooked meal in a Mayan home, and when the donated beehive becomes colonized, they will be sent a picture of their new “family.”
