Loews Hotels & Co has announced its new safety and well-being protocols that will enable its properties to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hotel brand says its reopening strategy will follow the spirit of the Loews Hotels & Co Service Promise: “We stay relevant to changing times and places; to provide an experience that is authentically local and genuinely delivered, all so our guests can relax, explore, and flourish.”

As a smaller brand with 26 hotels, Loews says it is able to quickly adapt to new guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local authorities as are appropriate to its operations. As the situation is fluid, Loews we will be looking at additions and enhancements in the coming days and weeks ahead.

The protocols will include use of masks and gloves as appropriate based on team member roles and responsibilities. All team members and vendors will undergo temperature checks prior to entering a property, using thermal no-touch temperature scanners. No team member will be admitted to the building with a temperature of 100.3 or greater, or be permitted to return until they have gone 72 hours without a fever.

Loews properties will continue to be cleaned using a peroxide multi-surface cleaner and disinfectant that is effective against emerging viral pathogens including COVID-19. Particular attention will be given to high-touch areas such as telephones, remote controls, door handles, light switches, elevators and table tops.

Hand sanitizer stations will be added to front desks, spas, fitness centers, meeting rooms and other high traffic guest areas. Loews is also offering contactless guest experiences such as smart phone apps to control guestroom televisions and hotel-wide text chat with staff. Whenever possible, Loews will leave occupied guestrooms vacant for 48 hours upon checkout, before thoroughly cleaning and checking in a new guest.

Hotel elevators will also limit the number of passengers in each elevator to adhere to physical distancing. Lobby attendants will clean the elevator area frequently and hand sanitizer stations will be available on all landings.

Loews notes that safety guidelines in the area of food and beverage are fluid and evolving and they will be closely monitoring future guidelines. All bars, lounges and restaurants are currently closed, and room service is delivered in disposable eco-friendly containers and left at the guestroom door for a contactless experience. Upon reopening, restaurants will be occupied at half the capacity and set to ensure adequate space between parties. Guests will have the option to have their food and drink served in disposable to go eco-friendly containers.
