The tagline for Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 Remastered, “presenting a new level of luxury,” says it all. When the highly anticipated ship makes her 2017 debut, guests will finally see the much-buzzed about enhancements, which the company claims has created the most significant refit ever undertaken by Carnival UK. According to Cunard CEO David Noyes, the labor of love has “been driven by loyal Cunarders and luxury travelers as well as the crew.” So Cunarders, this one’s for you.

When the Queen Mary 2 comes out of dry dock June 21, 2017, she will be outfitted with several new enhancements, including 30 additional Britannia Club staterooms, 15 new single staterooms, and an expansion of the ship’s dedicated kennel for cats and dogs, including the addition of 10 kennels (22 total) and lamp and fire hydrants in the ship’s dog walking area for Cunard’s British and American canine travelers. Cunard took inspiration for the ship’s redesign not only from its history, but also from its guests.

“During our 175-year history, Cunard earned a reputation for being the arbiter of style and taste,” says Noyle in a press release statement. “The remastering of Queen Mary 2 continues this tradition by the thoughtful contemporizing of the product, while maintaining the refined design aesthetics and service standards that are deeply based in British style and refinement.”

Details like the introduction of tea and coffee makers in each cabin showcase the cruise line’s adherence to its past, while its refreshed menus developed by Cunard’s twin executive chefs, Nicholas and Mark Oldroyd, prove its ability to keep a pulse on cruisers current demands (namely more robust and diverse food offerings). The ship’s Grills dining experience is also receiving an update with a new design, color palette and furnishings inspired by the original Queen Mary 2 and the Art Deco period.

Additionally, the Verandah will debut on board Queen Mary 2 with French regional cooking. At the King’s Court, Cunard chef’s will guide guests through cooking demonstrations, with various food journeys being rotated throughout the dining experience, from hot and cold options to light snacks, afternoon treats and alternative evening dining cuisines such as Indian, Italian, Pan Asian, and Tex Mex.

For a bit of R&R, guests can unwind in the Queen Mary 2’s new Carinthia Lounge, a remastering of her Winter Garden, offering light breakfast and lunch dishes, a dedicated patisserie and an afternoon tea service, as well as premium wine, small plates and relaxed entertainment in the evening.
