Explora Journeys has announced a major update to the deployment of EXPLORA II for the Winter 2026–2027 season. The ship, originally scheduled to sail the Middle East, will now operate exclusively in the Mediterranean from November 2026 through March 2027.

EXPLORA II: Headed to the Med

Instead of heading to the Middle East, EXPLORA II will remain in the Western Mediterranean, offering itineraries that highlight the region’s cultural and coastal destinations during the less-traveled winter season. Ports of call will include Funchal, Casablanca and Ibiza’s Old Town, among others, along with sea days timed around the winter holidays. The decision positions the ship in waters that allow for easier access to popular European gateways while avoiding areas where operations can be logistically challenging during this period.

Explora Journeys described the adjustments as part of its “guest-centric philosophy that prioritizes flexibility and well-being.” The company frames each journey as an opportunity for your clients to experience travel at a more deliberate pace, both ashore and aboard. On EXPLORA II, guests will have access to spacious oceanfront suites, lounges with floor-to-ceiling views and the Ocean Wellness program, which blends spa rituals with mindfulness-oriented activities. Dining draws on Mediterranean influences, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and local sourcing from the ports visited.

By winter, the Mediterranean takes on a different character. Cooler temperatures and lighter crowds allow for a more relaxed rhythm in cities such as Barcelona, Valletta and Casablanca, where history and daily culture can be experienced without the intensity of peak season. For clients seeking cultural engagement combined with the comforts of a luxury ocean experience, the revised program aligns with Explora Journeys’ growing interest in off-peak cruising.

Of note: Guests with current reservations on affected sailings will be contacted directly with updated options and assistance. More details about the revised itineraries are expected before the end of March.
