The historic Langham, Boston, that closed on April 1, 2019, for a full renovation and repositioning, is set to open in early 2021. There was a construction delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel is being completely renovated, resulting in 312 brand new guest rooms, a new Club Lounge, a new destination bar, lobby concept, and signature restaurant. The interior design, executed by Richmond International, who also did the interiors of The Langham, London, will reflect the rich history of The Langham, which was once the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and will highlight the unique architectural elements of the building.

“As the process of reinvigorating this landmark property with new life continues, it is exciting to watch the hotel’s new features come to life,” said Michele Grosso, managing director of The Langham, Boston, in a statement. “This renovation will highlight the architectural grandeur of this iconic building but will also launch The Langham as a new American classic within the luxury hotel industry. When it is completed, we will be able to say without a shadow of a doubt that The Langham is one of the very best historic hotels in the United States.”

Dyer Brown is the architect of record for the hotel project. Highlights include an extensive art collection by renowned local artists that will reside throughout the hotel in tribute to the history of Boston. Other new features include a grand new entrance with slate awnings and light fixtures that illuminate the facade; a new destination bar with an outdoor terrace, and an innovative restaurant concept. There is a 24-hour fitness facility, a glass-enclosed indoor pool, and pool deck.
