Back in June, Recommend spoke to Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ CEO Adam Aron about the company’s new collection of upscale, independent hotels—the Tribute Portfolio brand—at an event to dedicate its first property, the Royal Palm South Beach Miami. This month, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, along with Wurzak Hotel Group and DoveHill, announced the newest addition to its Tribute Portfolio and eco-conscious Element brands, a chic downtown Fort Lauderdale hotel. The property is currently in the process of a complete renovation to transform the former site of the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home into a 24-story, 323-guestroom dual-branded development. Both divisions of the hotel are scheduled to open in spring 2017.

The 209-room Tribute Portfolio hotel and the 114-room Element hotel will share a street-level entrance and an elevator, which takes guests to either hotel, as well as a fitness center, a sky lobby and bar on the seventh floor, and an indoor-outdoor pool deck on the 24th floor. Guests can dine at one of the property’s three restaurants or set out to try some the area’s top restaurants at the nearby shopping and dining district—Las Olas Boulevard—or farther east on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The new property will also be in close proximity to the Galleria Mall, the Port Everglades Cruise Terminal, the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Future Tribute Portfolio locations include Asheville, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; Savannah, Georgia; and Charleston, South Carolina.

At the connecting Element hotel, guests will be treated to the a complimentary RISE breakfast and RELAX evening reception, in addition to complimentary bicycles to use around town through the Bikes to Borrow program. The brand expects to triple its portfolio by 2018. For more information, visit starwoodhotels.com/tributeportfolio.
