Wilpena Pound Resort is celebrating the launch of new flights direct from Adelaide by offering a 2-day Mini-Adventure package. The resort is the only accommodation located within the Flinders Ranges National Park, an 800-million-year-old natural landscape that has been home to the Adnyamathanha people for tens of thousands of years. The resort was previously only accessible via a 4.5-hour drive, but now guests can fly to Wilpena in less than three hours and enjoy the stunning views over the outback with a scenic flight transfer.

The Mini-Adventure package includes a 2-night stay and return scenic air transfers from Adelaide to Wilpena via Roxby Downs. Daily breakfast and a 2-course dinner at the Wilpena Pound Resort Restaurant are also included in the package price, plus a guided sunset tour to Stokes Hill with drinks and canapes, and a half-day guided tour of Wilpena Pound with morning or afternoon tea. Package rates start at $520 pp, per night.

Visitors to the resort can also choose to stay at the Ikara Safari Camp, set among the red gums, pines and abundant wildlife of the national park. The camp’s glamping experience is perfect for those who want to sleep under canvas beneath the vast South Australian sky, but are not so keen on “roughing it.” It offers 15 premium safari tents, complete with king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, luxury amenities, power and air-conditioning. Room rates start at $540 pp, per night, including flights, meals and tours.

The Wilpena Pound Resort itself features 60 rooms, a picturesque camp ground, restaurant, bar/bistro, swimming pool and general store. A range of excursions are available including 4WD tours, guided bush walks, and scenic flights over one of earth’s oldest landscapes. The resort has partnered with the Adnyamathanha Traditional Lands Association Inc. RNTBC who have invested in the property. This joint venture will make an important contribution towards a sustainable economic future for the Adnyamathanha people, the traditional owners of the Wilpena and Flinders Range area and co-managers of the national park that surrounds the resort.

The Mini-Adventure package is valid for sale until Dec. 31, 2015 for travel until March 31, 2016. A 2-night minimum stay in all room types applies. Child prices apply to children 12 years and under using existing bedding. For more information, visit wilpenapound.com.au.
