[Updated] ‘Open for Business’; Industry Unites for LA Wildfire Relief

The Los Angeles wildfires have caused immense devastation, taking lives and destroying homes, but California’s resilience is showing with Visit California’s proactive “open for business” campaign launch.

Visit California President & CEO Caroline Beteta issued the following statement on the Los Angeles wildfires: “Los Angeles has always been a beacon to the world—a place where dreams are born and stories unfold from the silver screen to iconic landmarks. Now this resilient city needs your help in its recovery story. One of the best ways to support the comeback of Los Angeles is to plan a trip.”

According to the statement, Los Angeles’ tourism infrastructure remains intact, with attractions, hotels and restaurants open for visitors.

Destinations International Wildfire Recovery Fund

Destinations International (DI), representing destination organizations, has established the LA Wildfire Recovery Fund in collaboration with the Destinations International Foundation. The fund was jumpstarted by a $20,000 pledge from DI and its foundation and has since attracted over $100,000 in additional commitments from industry partners including Visit Baltimore, Visit Greater Palm Springs, IMEX Group, Visit West Hollywood, Visit Anaheim, Meet Boston and more.

“We are deeply moved by the outpouring of support from Destinations International members and partners, as well as the broader tourism industry,” said Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International, in a press statement. “This recovery fund underscores the strength of our community and our shared commitment to standing with Los Angeles in its time of need.”

Recovery efforts are being coordinated with Adam Burke, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, and Kristin McGrath, Executive Director of Visit Pasadena, to ensure impactful fund allocation. Destinations International invites its members, partners and the public to contribute to the Destinations International LA Wildfire Recovery Fund, 100% of all donations will go directly toward recovery efforts in the affected areas.
