Oceania Cruises has officially revealed Oceania Sonata, a next-generation luxury cruise ship set to debut in 2027 as the inaugural vessel in the line’s new Sonata Class. The 1,390-guest ship will be the ninth vessel in the Oceania Cruises fleet and represents a major evolution in the brand’s culinary- and destination-focused positioning.

Designed as the first of four Sonata Class ships, Oceania Sonata will feature expanded accommodations, elevated dining concepts and enhanced spaces. Thirty percent of all accommodations will be suites, including two brand-new suite categories and redesigned Owner’s Suites; every guestroom onboard will include a private veranda.

Billed as the line’s most amenity-rich ship to date, Oceania Sonata will combine light-filled, open public spaces with intimate lounges and residential-style relaxation areas.

The Sonata Class Difference

“We are delighted to unveil Oceania Sonata, the start of our exciting next chapter, as we forge our fantastic future as leaders in luxury cruising,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, in a media statement. “Each new ship offers an opportunity to reimagine and perfect the travel experience, and as the inaugural vessel of our Sonata Class, Oceania Sonata embodies our vision for the future—one defined by a passion for exquisite cuisine, exceptional service and immersive travel experiences—and we cannot wait to share more news in the coming weeks and months.”

The line will announce additional exclusive dining offerings—featuring experiences not previously available at sea—in the months ahead.

Currently under construction at Fincantieri in Italy, Oceania Sonata will measure approximately 86,000 gross tons and will be staffed by 855 officers and crew. The vessel is scheduled to begin sailing in August 2027.
