‘Under the Sea’ Mermaid Meet & Greets

What’s better than seeing a mythical creature? Getting your picture taken with one! Kids will flip out at the opportunity to do just that and spend an entire day of “finny” fun by the sea at Ft. Lauderdale’s Marriott Harbor Beach Resort on May 21 and 28. This fun “shell-abration” includes meet-and-greet photo ops, fin-flipping lessons, starfish face painting, games and more. The fun continues when the family hops into the resort’s 8,000 sq.ft. Tropical Lagoon Pool for a splashy screening of the classic version of the film. Book clients on a weekend of beachside fun they’ll not soon forget.

Mermaid In Training

Hawks Cay Resort on Florida’s Duck Key wants to extend the fun right on through the summer with its “Mermaids in Training” program, where your client’s kiddos can hop into the water with the resort’s in-house mythical creature and learn the ropes in a one-on-one session. Koral the Mermaid is on staff to give them basic lessons on how to flip fins and sashay underwater, and the experience comes complete with a makeup lesson and street cred as a Certified Hawks Cay Maid. There’s a pirate ship pool to practice in and a Mermaid Grotto for pics, and they can even purchase their own monofin to swish around as they listen to Koral during Poolside Mermaid Storytime. The program is available Fridays throughout the summer for $85/child ($200/child if you include their own monofin).

Mermaid Academy

Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku, Hawaii, is going one step further, putting kids’ Little Mermaid dreams and wishes front and center every Friday the entire year round. Those days, Mermaid Kariel is in charge of putting on “The Brave Mermaid Show” for guests, splashing around the pool and sharing her underwater adventures. Kiddos ages 4 through 12 can enroll in the Mermaid Academy and join her with swim fins and artsy tails as they learn the basic underwater ropes. The show itself is complimentary for resort guests, but you can book the small fry in the academy online for $200 per participant.
