Nicknamed SLO CAL, San Luis Obispo County is a chill getaway from the usual summer retreats, offering unique accommodations, good eats, and fun and off-the-beaten-path things to do.

New and Updated SLO CAL Stays

SLO CALNomada Hotel Group recently opened the doors to the quirky Farmhouse, a 26-cottage mid-century hotel/motel that’s been completely renovated with anything and everything your client could want for an unforgettable stay. The bungalow-style accommodations have red metal roofs and tiled front patios, firepits, fountains and hammocks to laze around in and take in the cool night air. There are lemon trees and gardens, and the decor itself will have your design-minded clients swooning. Expect a second property, River Lodge, to open this fall with 27 rooms, slated to become the next go-to for patrons of the Paso Robles Wine Trail.

Redesigned and ready to go, The Pacific Hotel in Cayucos is steps from the beach and everything else that’s fun to do, see and nosh on in this great little beach town.

News from SLO CAL Eats & Drinks

Foodie alert: The Restaurant at Justin just received a Michelin star, and it’s not the only one in Paso Robles that either has a star or has been mentioned in the guide:  Six Test Kitchen, In Bloom, The Hatch and Les Petite Canailles, not to mention Nate’s On Marsh and Ox + Anchor in San Luis Obispo and Ember in Arroyo Grande. Also in Arroyo Grande, recommend Blue Seafood & Grill for their Cajun scallop pasta.

Oenophiles on your list will love to hear about the new tasting room that just opened up at Timbre Winery in Central Coast County. The new space is 6,500 sq. ft. and can host a group of 50 of your client’s closest friends and family (rehearsal dinner, anyone?)

Heads Up from SLO CAL Attractions

The Pozo Saloon has been around since 1858, so it was due for a redo (just kidding, this isn’t its first rodeo). Partially closed for a facelift, it’s due to reopen fully this summer. Its stage has hosted stars from Willie Nelson to Kendrick Lamar, so it’s no slouch on the celebrity scene. Your client will love that it’s more than just a place to belly up to the bar: Pozo Saloon has a distillery, a central pool, outdoor soaking tubs, and a full-service restaurant. And, right next door, there’s a historic “encampo” spot with 30 accommodations that range from glamping tents to Airstreams and RV hookups.

And remind your clients that from late October through February, the monarch butterflies are in attendance in the thousands at Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove. This is one of the only locations in the state where they can spot the migration, and it truly is a sight to see.
