A recent study by Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection sheds light on Americans’ perceptions of quality time and its connection to travel. The Time Rich Report, conducted in collaboration with Wakefield Research, examines how people perceive and manage their time, uncovering a significant connection between meaningful experiences and travel.

“Our first-ever Time Rich Report shows that travel is about much more than getting away – it’s about arriving at powerful moments and shared experiences,” said Ana Tomicevic, vice president, global brand leader, Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, in a press statement. “For the travel industry, these findings suggest the need for a strong focus on creating strategies and delivering services that maximize quality time and reduce planning headaches and distractions for guests, all while allowing connections and personal time to flourish. This approach is already central to Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection and our more than 140 all-inclusive resorts, and we will be amplifying our mission with new programs and an exciting partnership with global mindfulness pioneer Deepak Chopra, M.D.”

The survey found that 82 percent of Americans feel they lack sufficient time with important people in their lives, indicating a widespread desire for deeper connections. Notably, 62 percent of respondents consider travel as quality time, highlighting its potential to foster meaningful relationships and personal growth.

The report also uncovers challenges faced by individuals and families in managing their daily routines. Parents, in particular, struggle to balance time between devices and children, with 86 percent reporting a lack of quality family time. Given the opportunity, 42 percent would choose a family trip as their dream vacation, recognizing the ability of travel to bring loved ones together.

Couples, too, benefit from travel experiences. While 31 percent report that they have insufficient time together, 84 percent note that time away has a positive impact, even after returning home, suggesting lasting benefits from vacations.

The survey also addresses the rising issue of loneliness, with 55 percent of respondents reporting feelings of isolation. However, travel offers a potential solution, as 50 percent state that simply planning a trip improves their mood. Additionally, one in four respondents expresses interest in solo travel or trips with friends, indicating a growing trend in self-care through travel experiences.

In response to these findings, Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection has launched a portfolio-wide campaign called “Time Here Is Worth More,” seeking to provide enhanced services and experiences that enable your clients to achieve a greater sense of presence and more intentional time away, focusing on personal journeys and deeper connections.

To complement its in-resort offerings, the Inclusive Collection is collaborating with Deepak Chopra, M.D., a member of Hyatt’s new Wellbeing Collective Advisory Board. This partnership has led to the creation of Mindful Moments, a series of offerings featuring tools like DeepakChopra.ai, designed to help guests feel grounded and reflective during their stay.

“Time is more than just a measure; it reflects what we value,” said Deepak Chopra, M.D., in a press statement. “Through this collaboration with Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, we’re offering travelers tools to be more intentional, equipping them with practices that leave a positive impact to last long after their vacation ends.”

Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection encompasses resorts across Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and Europe. The portfolio offers both family-friendly and adult-only options, catering to various life stages and travel occasions.
