The Retreat Costa Rica has introduced Santosha Residence, a 2,500-square-foot villa designed for couples, groups and extended stays. The 3-bedroom residence accommodates up to six guests, with each bedroom featuring a private bathroom. Located near Santosha Lofts, the residence offers privacy while being steps away from the Santosha Clubhouse, the resort’s social, culinary and wellness hub. The villa provides views of the valley and the ocean. Guests have full access to resort amenities, including the spa and wellness center, yoga studio, two saline swimming pools, organic gardens and the resort’s restaurants.

Santosha Residence: Details

Designed by founder Diana Stobo, Santosha Residence was constructed by local artisans using sustainable, locally sourced materials. High ceilings and large windows allow natural light to fill the space while framing views of the surrounding landscape. This residence is part of The Retreat’s recent expansion, which includes a clubhouse, two restaurants and 10 luxury lofts.

The villa’s layout includes an open kitchen equipped with premium appliances that flows into spacious sitting areas with panoramic views. Private chef experiences can be enjoyed in the dining area, while the living room is ideal for relaxing. Additional features include a workspace, laundry facilities and amenities suited for longer stays.

The interior design features a muted color palette of pale woods and soft neutrals, with traditional craftsmanship complemented by locally made wood sculptures and original paintings by Stobo. A large outdoor deck runs the length of the residence, featuring built-in seating designed to capture mountain views and sunsets. The space is suitable for yoga or cocktails.

Located at the base of a quartz mountain near Atenas, Alajuela, The Retreat Costa Rica opened in 2015. The resort is 30 minutes from San Juan International Airport and offers 25 accommodations, a wellness club, a healing center and spa, three farm-to-table restaurants, two saline pools, a yoga studio, a meditation deck, organic gardens, a coffee plantation and hiking trails. The property is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and the Virtuoso Travel Network.
