Royal Caribbean International has announced its latest cruise ship, Legend of the Seas, the third addition to its Icon Class. Set to debut in July 2026, Legend of the Seas will embark on 7-night Western Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona before making its way to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in Nov. 2026 for year-round Caribbean sailings.
The ship’s itineraries will feature 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean cruises, including stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
A New Era of Icon Class Cruising
“On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class, we are thrilled to introduce Legend of the Seas as the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, in a press statement. “With this latest addition, we continue the legacy of the Icon Class, bringing unparalleled experiences to families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond.”
The ship’s summer European itineraries will take travelers to France, Italy and Spain. Come winter, Legend of the Seas will offer escapes to the Caribbean, with stops at top destinations such as Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curaçao; and Falmouth, Jamaica.
Iconic Thrills & Amenities
Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, Legend of the Seas will continue the innovation of its predecessors, Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas (launching August 2025). The ship will feature eight distinct neighborhoods, more than 40 dining and drinking options and a mix of thrills and relaxation spots. Highlights include:
- Crown’s Edge: An attraction that blends a skywalk, ropes course and a thrill ride.
- Category 6 Waterpark: The largest waterpark at sea with slides.
- Seven Pools: Including Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea; the swim-up bar, Swim & Tonic; and the adults-only Hideaway infinity pool suspended above the ocean.
- Surfside: A dedicated neighborhood for families, featuring the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse.
Commitment to Sustainability
Legend of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will incorporate advanced environmental technologies, including waste heat recovery systems and shore power connectivity. The ship plays a key role in Royal Caribbean Group’s goal of launching a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
