Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a series of strategic leadership changes that signal a shift towards a more brand-centric and nimble organization.
At the forefront of these changes is the appointment of Marc Jacheet as Group President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME). Jacheet, a seasoned international executive with over 25 years of experience, will step into his role on March 17, 2025, with a complete transition set for July 1, 2025. His extensive background spans luxury and consumer brands, including notable names such as De Beers, Louis Vuitton, Moet & Chandon and Evian. Jacheet’s most recent accomplishment was steering Tiffany & Co.’s operations in the Asia Pacific and EMEA regions. From Hyatt’s EAME Hub in Zurich, he will report directly to President & CEO Mark Hoplamazian.
The ripple effect of this appointment extends to Javier Aguila, who has been instrumental in driving Hyatt’s EAME region to new heights since 2022. Aguila is set to take on the mantle of Chief Growth Officer starting July 1, 2025. This role comes in addition to his recently announced position as President of the Inclusive Collection, effective March 1, 2025. In his expanded capacity, Aguila will spearhead Hyatt’s global growth initiatives, overseeing development strategies, execution, and transactions. To ensure a smooth transition, he will continue to lead the EAME region and support Jacheet from March 17 to June 30, 2025. Following this period, both executives will fully embrace their new roles, with Aguila maintaining his reporting line to Hoplamazian.
The leadership reshuffle also impacts Jim Chu, who has served as Hyatt’s Chief Growth Officer since 2022. Chu will transition to a newly created position as Head of Owner Relations, effective July 1, 2025. This move underscores Hyatt’s commitment to strengthening relationships with its key stakeholders. Chu will continue to report to Hoplamazian in his new role.
Hyatt’s New Focus
These strategic shifts are designed to reinforce Hyatt’s dedication to becoming a more brand-focused entity. The restructuring will enhance the company’s ability to cater to the distinct requirements of guests, owners and developers across its five brand portfolios: Lifestyle, Luxury, Inclusive, Classics and Essentials.
“Today’s announcements highlight two key points for Hyatt,” said Mark Hoplamazian, President & CEO of Hyatt, in a press statement. “First, bringing in top business leaders with deep brand and operating expertise like Marc Jacheet will lead to building EAME’s momentum in performance and growth and accelerate our evolution toward a more brand-focused, high-performance enterprise. Second, assigning new strategic roles to Hyatt leaders like Javier Aguila and Jim Chu demonstrates the agile leadership capabilities we are developing for the future.”
