Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the debut of Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde, the first Hyatt Centric brand property in Puerto Rico. The 223-room hotel is located in a prime spot in the Isla Verde neighborhood, minutes from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport and within walking distance of Isla Verde Beach, dining, retail and entertainment. The property is also within easy access of Old San Juan, El Yunque National Forest, San Juan’s Financial District and the Puerto Rico Convention District.
“The inauguration of Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde marks a significant moment for tourism in Puerto Rico, the result of an exemplary collaboration between local talent, capital, and effort. This project—developed and remodeled entirely with Puerto Rican expertise—transforms a traditional hotel into a vibrant and unique concept, integrated for the first time with Vivo Beach Club to offer immersive experiences that bring together design, gastronomy, entertainment, and the beach,” said Federico J. Sanchez Ortiz, President & CEO of Interlink and Luis and Matias Fernández, Owners of Vivo Beach Club; co-owners of Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde.
Hyatt Centric: A First in Puerto Rico
The opening follows a $30 million transformation of the former Verdanza Hotel into a modern, lifestyle-focused property. The renovation created guest spaces that reflect Puerto Rico’s natural surroundings through textures and colors inspired by the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, coral reefs and mountain terrain. Room options include city and partial ocean views.
Guests receive complimentary entry and shuttle access to Vivo Beach Club, a nearby oceanfront venue featuring three pools, four restaurants and bars, and Ocean Lab Brewing Co., a microbrewery recognized for award-winning craft beer. The club’s open-air concert space accommodates up to 3,500 attendees, frequently hosting live entertainment.
At the hotel, amenities include a resort-style pool and jacuzzi with a casual open-air restaurant and bar, a 24-hour fitness center and a children’s splash pad. The property is pet-friendly and offers special amenities for traveling companions.
Dining venues include Alba, serving contemporary Puerto Rican dishes, and Espresso Lab, a coffee bar open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Executive Chef Efrain Cruz oversees all culinary functions across outlets, events, and banquets.
Meeting and event capacity exceeds 16,000 sq. ft., with options from small boardrooms to a rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean. Each venue integrates adaptable technology for business, social, or creative gatherings.
