1 Hotels has announced development plans for 1 Hotel Cabo, an upcoming property in Baja California Sur, Mexico, that will combine the brand’s sustainability ethos with its lifestyle-focused luxury model. Construction is scheduled to begin after the design phase, with an anticipated opening in late 2028 or early 2029.

“At 1 Hotels, we believe that ultimate luxury can be found in nature,” says Barry Sternlicht, Founder of 1 Hotels and Chairman of Starwood Hotels, in a press statement. “Los Cabos is a destination defined by its elemental natural beauty, and we’re privileged to create a sanctuary that both honors and preserves this extraordinary setting. 1 Hotel Cabo will capture the spirit of Baja in a way that feels organic, timeless, and deeply connected to the land and culture.”

1 Hotels: Where the Desert Meets the Sea

1 Hotel Cabo will be designed to integrate the surrounding desert and ocean environment through organic architecture, renewable materials and a focus on biophilic principles. The design team will create spaces that transition fluidly between indoors and outdoors. The project will feature tactile natural materials and highlight local craftsmanship to connect guests with the region’s culture and landscape.

Plans include approximately 124 guest rooms and suites along with multiple beachfront infinity pools. The resort will feature locally influenced dining concepts, craft cocktails, wellness programming and spa offerings tied to the natural rhythms of Baja’s desert and coastline. A rooftop bar and lounge will provide views of Land’s End, while flexible open spaces will promote a connection to the surrounding environment.
