Westin Hotels & Resorts has expanded its footprint in the all-inclusive segment with the opening of Westin Playa Vallarta, marking the brand’s first all-inclusive property in Mexico.

Located along Banderas Bay, the resort replaces the former Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta, following a multi-million-dollar renovation. The transformation includes redesigned guestrooms, new adults-only swim-up suites, expanded dining concepts and upgraded wellness amenities.

Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos led the redesign, while Uribe Krayer and Vida Design Studio refreshed the interiors with open-air layouts, neutral tones and natural textures that connect the resort to its coastal surroundings.

Expanded Accommodations Include Wellness-Focused Suites

The resort now offers more than 280 redesigned accommodations, all featuring the updated Westin Heavenly Bed 2.0. New room categories include adults-only Swim-Up Junior Suites with direct access to interconnected water pathways and Playa Dip Club, an exclusive social space offering cocktails and curated culinary bites.

Additional accommodations include Sky Pool Suites with private plunge pools and ocean views, as well as Family Studios equipped with kitchenettes and flexible living spaces. Premium categories such as the Heavenly Penthouse and Presidential Suite feature expansive terraces, plunge pools and panoramic views of Banderas Bay.

Select suites also incorporate wellness-focused amenities, including yoga mats, lavender balm and scented candles.

Gourmet Gallery Anchors Culinary Programming

Gourmet Gallery anchors the resort’s food and beverage programming, bringing together 10 culinary and mixology concepts in an open-air setting overlooking the property’s palm groves.

Dining venues include Tanto, a Japanese restaurant; Palma, serving Caribbean and Latin-inspired cuisine; and Call Me Lalo Taqueria, focused on Mexican street food. Flora Bar highlights botanical-inspired cocktails, while Agave Studio offers mezcal tastings paired with chef-curated bites.

Organic & Co Cafe rounds out the offerings with coffee, smoothies and health-conscious fare. The resort plans to open its signature restaurant, Sabia, in the coming months.

Wellness and Cultural Experiences

The resort reinforces Westin’s wellness-focused brand positioning through activities such as sunrise yoga, meditation, kayaking, paddleboarding, Aqua Fit and guided cycling along Marina Vallarta.

The Heavenly Spa by Westin offers hydrotherapy and aromatherapy treatments, while the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio features updated equipment and guided training sessions.

Outdoor amenities include redesigned adults-only and family-friendly pools, along with new pickleball and padel courts. The resort also incorporates cultural programming into the guest experience through workshops inspired by regional art traditions, outdoor movie nights, live music and evening entertainment.
