Uncommon Journeys Unveils Rail Trips Through Canada

Cruise and rail tour operator Uncommon Journeys has unveiled three new Canadian adventures for 2016. The all-inclusive tours combine luxury accommodations with culinary offerings, sightseeing and shore excursions, while focusing on both popular destinations and hidden gems.

The first tour is the 13-day Canadian Panorama itinerary, taking place May 5-17 with rates starting at $4,995 pp. The journey begins with a 1-night stay at Niagara Falls, followed by a night in Toronto. From there, passengers embark on the legendary cross-Canada train trip from Toronto to Jasper and Vancouver aboard Via Rail’s vista-dome streamliner The Canadian. Along the way, stops and excursions include a four-night stay in Banff, a Columbia Icefield snow coach tour atop Athabasca Glacier, a Banff sightseeing tour with a gondola ride and a visit to Banff Hot Springs, plus a Lake Louise sightseeing tour with brunch at Chateau Lake Louise. The 13-day 2016 Springtime In The Canadian Rockies trip from May 16-28 starts at $3,995 pp. This journey includes both train and ocean liner experiences, and begins with a 5-night cruise from San Diego to Vancouver onboard Holland America Line’s Amsterdam, and features visits to Santa Barbara and Victoria, British Columbia. Following a 1-night stay in Vancouver, passengers travel onboard Via Rail’s vista-dome streamliner The Canadian from Vancouver to Jasper in first class sleeping accommodations. The trip culminates with six days in the Canadian Rockies, with two nights in Jasper and three nights in Banff. Sightseeing excursions include visits to Maligne Canyon, Peyto Lake, Banff Hot Springs and a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain.

Lastly, the 8-day 2016 Elegant Canadian Rockies rail adventure over the Cascade Mountains from Seattle to Glacier National Park, Montana is scheduled for June 23-30, July 21-28, Aug. 18-25 and Sept. 15-22, with rates starting at $2,995 pp. The trip begins with private, luxury train travel onboard The Great Western Limited, followed by a 1-night stay in Glacier National Park at the Lake McDonald Lodge, plus a 1-night stay in Waterton Lake, Alberta, followed by a 4-night stay at the Mount Royal Hotel in Banff.
