There’s a new restaurant in the historic neighborhood of Coral Gables—one of Miami’s most beautiful areas—that you’re going to want to tell you clients headed to this South Florida city about: Seek + Find. With its industrial design and live DJ, Seek + Find brings a hip ambiance that’s reminiscent of one of Miami’s trendiest neighborhoods, Wynwood…in other words, this will definitely become one of the coolest hangouts in the Gables.

Seek + Find
The main dining area.

Set in a historic, 2-story building from 1925, the 200-seat Seek + Find features al fresco seating at street level, a second-floor outdoor terrace, a fun bar, and a lounge-style, artsy vibe. Its New American cuisine menu kicks Miami’s typical fare to the curb, instead offering tantalizing items such as alligator tail corn dogs, wild boar medallions, Australian lamb chops, and bison and wild boar Bolognese.

When we visited last week, we started off the evening taking a bite out of delicious, perfectly sized confit tacos, a combination of tender Rohan duck confit, served with frisee, sauce a l’orange and potato stix; then followed it with the aforementioned wild boar medallions, featuring roasted loin with a citrus and chili glaze, creamy southern succotash and roasted sweet potatoes, as well as my favorite, the yummy wild mushroom risotto, with seasonal wild mushrooms, truffle oil and shaved truffle. Of course, you can’t do a thorough tasting at a restaurant without trying the dessert, so we feasted on a decadent chocolate treat (Its name? Who knows…it’s decadent and it’s chocolate, so you know it’s a must-try).

By the way, one of the nicest features the restaurant offers is its service. Miami doesn’t always have the best customer service—sometimes they are either inexperienced or arrogant, especially in these “cool” hangouts—but Seek + Find’s staff is personable, helpful and chatty in a good way.

Goblet of Fire

Oh yes, the cocktails…. Seek + Find has a nice choice of handcrafted cocktails, including the cleverly named Last Wish and Goblet of Fire (yes, it’s a flaming cocktail). My choice was the just-right-for-Miami-weather Lychee Mule, with vodka, lime juice, lychee juice, and ginger beer, garnished with mint leaves and lychee; my husband had to go for the S+F in a nod to the restaurant’s name—it’s made of whiskey, amaretto, angostura bitters, simple syrup, lemon and egg white, served on slightly iced snifter, garnished with Seek + Find cinnamon over foam.
