This fall, Century City’s iconic, mid-century modern hotel, formerly the Century Plaza Hotel, will emerge as the Fairmont Century Plaza, a fully reimagined landmark for the city of Los Angeles.

The hotel, transformed by international design firm Yabu Pushelberg, will feature 400 luxury guest rooms, all boasting their own private balcony, and 63 private residences.

James Beard Award-nominated Executive Chef Jason Franey will helm signature restaurant Lumière, a seasonal, modern American Brasserie.

The 17th floor rooftop pool will offer cabanas and serve up whimsical beverages with California flair.

Fairmont Spa Century Plaza will be 14,000 square feet with state-of-the-art facilities, experiential showers, sanarium, Himalayan salt room, aromatherapy steam room, hammam, innovative guest experiences, and a wide range of luxury products.

Originally designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, best known for the original World Trade Center in New York City, the Century Plaza debuted in 1966 as Southern California’s most impressive large-scale hotel. It enjoyed decades in the spotlight, fêting the world’s biggest stars and welcoming presidents and heads of states. In April 2009 the hotel was added to the list of National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The new Fairmont Century Plaza is the centerpiece of a $2.5B mixed-use development project on 6.14 acres. Looking ahead, the hotel will be joined by the Tower Residences at CenturyPlaza, two 44-story glass towers with 268 privately owned estate residences designed by Pei Cobb Freed. Debuting in spring 2021, the Tower Residences will feature unsurpassed amenities and services, and nearly 94,000 square feet of boutique shopping and restaurants, surrounding a landscaped pedestrian plaza and event space.
