Marriott Hotels has collaborated with Samsung Electronics America to launch VRoom Service, a new virtual reality travel experience. To use the service, which is currently being tested at the New York Marriott Marquis and the London Marriott Park Lane, guests can call the VRoom Service extension or use Marriott’s mobile request app to have a Samsung Gear VR headset, headphones and instructions delivered to their room. The device comes pre-loaded with Marriott’s new virtual travel content platform, VR Postcards. These virtual videos put guests alongside real travelers as they tour the Andes Mountains in Chile, visit an ice cream shop in Rwanda and traverse the bustling streets of Beijing. The 3D 360-degree view and first person narrations by the travelers make for a truly immersive travel experience. VR Postcards will be available for 24-hour rentals to guests at select Marriott properties and to the general public on the Samsung Milk VR premium video service.
