Reaching any resort after a long day of travel breeds an instant sigh of relief, but stepping out of the hot sun and into the almost spa-like atmosphere of Oasis Hotels & Resorts’ The Sian Ka’an at Grand Tulum felt particularly like finding refuge; like an “oasis.”

Strong floral scents and soft music permeated the air, and that, coupled with the lobby’s dark marble floors and low lighting, made it obvious why, of the three distinct areas that make up the Grand Oasis Tulum property, Sian Ka’an is the one aptly dubbed “The Calm Resort.”

For clients looking to have an all-inclusive vacation that consists of an eat, sleep, relax and repeat schedule with plenty of options to add dashes of adventure, entertainment, and cultural experiences, The Sian Ka’an at Grand Tulum is the place to be. And that’s exactly how I spent my days at this adults-only resort within a resort.

Fine Wining & Dining
With a total of 12 dining venues to choose from, along with 24-hour room service (included for Sian Ka’an guests), there is no shortage of opportunities for your clients to treat their taste buds. Among the options are three a la carte restaurants exclusively for Sian Ka’an guests: Cocoa, the formal seafood and oyster bar; Careyes, the gourmet Mexican and French fusion eatery; and Cafe del Mar for a more casual lunch or dinner. Dishes at each restaurant were not only unique in their flavor combinations and prepared with the freshest ingredients available, but there was also an attention to detail with the plate presentation that contributed to the feeling of fine dining and exclusivity.

This elevated dining experience was complemented by the restaurants’ ultra polite and accommodating staff. Want an extra appetizer, entree or dessert to give everything on the menu a try? Go for it. Need to alter a dish to fit your taste? Not a problem. Be sure to recommend the Andalusian seafood soup at Cocoa, and at Careyes opt for the ceviche, as well as the restaurant’s take on shrimp scampi, which comes with mango chutney on a bed of mashed potatoes seasoned with garlic, chaya, and other spices.

Tranquil Chambers
After a full day of relaxing or going on adventures, the 105 guestrooms and suites of Sian Ka’an provide a private retreat that serves as an extension of the already peaceful resort. Tranquility reigns supreme in these accommodations with a fully stocked minibar, a pillow menu, turndown service, L’Occitane toiletries, and modern-style fixtures offset by the warm and welcoming earth tones of the bedding and furniture. “Those are the details that people who travel a lot are looking for,” said Erika Arredondo M., PR and marketing manager of Oasis Hotels & Resorts.

Despite flying solo on this trip, the fact that Sian Ka’an accommodations are particularly ideal for couples was not lost on me. With a bottle of wine and with most guestrooms and suites featuring a private whirlpool or plunge pool as well as ocean views, Sian Ka’an makes for a wonderful romantic getaway.

When booking your clients, be sure to make note of the room category, as well as its location and whether or not the whirlpool is inside the room or on the terrace. For a group of friends looking for a fun but relaxing girls’ getaway (another ideal client for Sian Ka’an), the whirlpool on the terrace that leads directly to the pool or beach is perfect.

Relaxation & Adventure
Each Grand Oasis property is known to have a personality, and Sian Ka’an at Grand Tulum embodies its “calm resort” nickname. While Sian Ka’an guests have access to the family-friendly side of Grand Oasis Tulum, this resort within a resort is designed to be a secluded haven just for adults. With a private beach lined with Bali beds and lounge chairs, three pools, and a spa where Sian Ka’an guests receive a 20 percent discount, rest and relaxation come in heaps and mounds.

For clients looking to unwind with a cocktail in hand, the property also includes four exclusive bars: the Martini Piano Bar, especially good for after dinner drinks with soothing piano music as a backdrop; the swim-up Sian Ka’an Bar inside the infinity pool; the Havana Cigar Bar; and the Sensoria Champagne Bar, which sits on a deck complete with lounge chairs and plunge pools overlooking the beach.

If too much rest and relaxation would drive your clients a little stir crazy, suggest meandering just a few yards down the shoreline, where they’ll find complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkel gear, or heading to town for a tour of the nearby Mayan ruins. If more off-property entertainment is what they’re looking for, Sian Ka’an guests also have access to the facilities at all Grand Oasis properties in nearby Cancun, opening the door to Vegas-style shows, concerts, cabarets, and more.
