The new Pousada of Serra de Estrela, which sits on the top of its namesake mountain almost 4,000 ft. high, opened on April 1, 2014.
The Pousada of Serra de Estrela, with 92 rooms, a spa, an indoor pool, and a restaurant, was first originally built in the 1920s, and in the 1980s had a reputation for hosting the greatest snow carnival party in the area. While staying at the pousada, guests can visit the historical Portuguese villages, monuments, castles and museums that surround the property. Rates start at $122 per night.
