Explora Journeys is looking to Northern Europe for the inaugural season of Explora I, the first of six ultra-luxury vessels focusing on culinary and immersive experiences. The new ship, which will be officially named this Italy in July before sailing to the UK for a July 17 maiden journey, will have eight sailings within its debut Northern European Inaugural Journeys collection. Bookings are open now, and you can add pre- or post-cruise stays in luxury accommodations.

The collection will include iconic destinations like Edinburgh and Copenhagen mixed in with off-the-beaten-path choices that will make for some unique stories. Of note: Explora Journeys’ shore excursions are built around intimate groups of two to 25 guests maximum.

“When creating our experiences, we first need to understand the very essence of each destination and then focus on unique ways to offer our guests the chance to immerse themselves into the local culture, taste authentic food and discover truly hidden gems,” said Sacha Rougier, the Head of Itinerary Planning and Destination Experiences at Explora Journeys, in a press statement. “Our selected tour operators have been hand-picked and quickly realized that we at Explora Journeys want to clearly differentiate ourselves by offering our guests an extremely wide range of experiences that go to the root of each destination. Under the umbrella of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) we partner with Travelife for Tour Operators, the internationally leading training, management, and certification program for sustainability in tourism.”

More on Explora Journeys’ New Northern Europe Itineraries

Your clients will be wowed by their visit to Norway and its fjords as the ship takes them on Viking-flavored adventures, including a jaunt from Molde to an 18th-century fishing village aboard a longship. In Denmark, their adventure will include a kayak tour and a visit to the Faroe Islands. In Iceland, they will visit Reykjavik, take a helicopter tour over volcanic craters, and visit Grimsey Island, among other adventures. The itineraries also include Sweden and mindful forest hiking and spa treatments, the Netherlands for, among other things, a private after-hours visit to the Mauritshuis in Rotterdam, stops in the United Kingdom that include a visit to premier Scottish Whisky distilleries and a private visit of Strawberry Field in Liverpool and a visit to Greenland, where they’ll fill up their Insta with shots from a helicopter tour with a landing on a glacier or their dip in the warm Uunartoq Hot Springs.

Explora I and its sister ship Explora II feature only 461 suites, all oceanfront. Of these, 82 are connecting, ideal for multi-gen adventures. These environmentally-friendly vessels offer your clients nine eateries, large outdoor decks (they have three outdoor pools and one indoor pool with a retractable glass roof), 64 private cabanas and several indoor and outdoor whirlpools, ten indoor and outdoor lounges, indoor and outdoor wellness facilities and much more.
