Artisans of Leisure has announced 12 new culinary tours for 2016. The customized private tours offer food-focused travel and unique gastronomic experiences in locations such as Japan, India, Mexico and Sicily.

Dining experiences range from chef’s tables to street vendors, or even eating with a local family at their private home. Cooking classes and behind-the-scenes tours of bakeries, wineries and orchards are also featured, as well as visits to the best specialty markets and gourmet shops.

The Culinary Tour of Japan, for example,  includes cooking lessons in Kanazawa and Kyoto, a soba-making lesson in Yamanaka Onsen, a tour of a sake brewery, miso factory and sea salt producer, and fine dining at one of Japan’s most renowned luxury ryokan (traditional inns). Another option, the Culinary Tour of Sicily includes a chef-led tour of Palermo’s markets, private cooking classes, and tasting tours of local olive oil, gelato, chocolate and pastries.

Artisans of Leisure offers luxury tours tailored to the personal interests and preferences of the traveler. Staffed by an in-house team of food writers, cooks and culinary travel experts, and with an international network of acclaimed chefs and food historians, the company arranges highly personalized cultural tours to destinations around the world.
